Album art for Selena Gomez’s upcoming album Stars Dance
Former Disney star and current Bindi wearer Selena Gomez officially announced her new album Stars Dance today during a live chat, as well as releasing a brand new track from the album, Slow Down.
Slow Down is totally giving me some 3am-in-the-club vibes – the verses are filled with feisty vocals and a very latin guitar riff, punctuated by a pulsing club beat. In the bridge, Selena serves up some soaring pop vocals over a very “Trouble” synth beat, and the chorus brings us up to an unapolagetically high energy dance beat. If this is an accurate indication of Selena’s latest album, she could be looking at some serious mainstream success. I tell you, there’s something in the water over at Hollywood Records.
When asked in her live chat to describe the album, Gomez called it “Electric and Fun” and I won’t argue with that – from what we’ve heard so far, this album is shaping up to be club bangers and bona fide pop hits. In the live chat, Selena described the style of each track – her descriptions ranged from reggae and latin inspired to “Drake and Rihanna” inspired urban tracks (the ‘Rihanna’ inspired track is very unfortunately named “Beat”). I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only one excited to see what this record has to offer.
