Monday Music Dump

Natalia Kills

Here’s some awesome music to listen to this week.

Kill My Boyfriend – Natalia Kills
The beginning of this sounds like that song from High School Musical but once you get past that bit it’s a fucking awesome anthem if you ever feel like… you know… killing your boyfriend. Jarringly chirpy and happy sounding on the surface it’s pretty catchy too. You’ll find yourself singing along in no time. But maybe if you are having those murderous thoughts you can just listen to this song to vent your frustrations. It’ll save you a lot of money on poison and knives. And a lot of time lost in prison.

Missed It – Tommy Ill feat. Carly Rae Jepsen
You may be pretty fucking sick of CaRaJe but Wellington boy Tommy Ill remixes her to near incomprehesibility (made that word up). He slows her down so much she sounds like a man but it’s the addictive beats of Call Me Maybe in the background that make it such a good blend and the music actually works quite well with rap above it.

Diane Young – Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend have a pretty mixed track record. For every ‘Oxford Comma’ there’s a ‘White Sky’. This one, however is pretty awesome, it’s nice and short and punchy and comes with a beautifully simple video. If this is a sign of what’s to come on their upcoming album Modern Vampires of the City then I think it’ll be more hit than shit.

Work – Iggy Azalea
You may be surprised to find out that Iggy Azalea is from Australia; you don’t usually get people this fierce from that part of the world but what ever. Anyway her new song ‘Work’ is her first major commercial single release and it’ll actually be the one to shove her into the mainstream. It’s fierce and fun and catchy and badass and you should listen to it right now so that in six months’ time you can say “I listened to Iggy Azalea before she was on ZM”.
